Okay you guys. This is my last entry for seven weeks, as I head off to the beautiful location of Sendai, Japan tomorrow.
My host sister (15) and I have been exchanging e-mails (nihongo de), and she seems like such a wonderful person. I apparently also have a younger sister (11), and an older brother (17). Oh, and a dog named Spot. I'm kind of excited about this now.
Also, I found out that the school I'll be attending (with Miho) is a Catholic high school (I think one of the only ones in the Miyagi prefecture? If not the only one). That's just amazing. I know God is watching out for me now.
So, I'm going to miss you all. Have a great summer, and I'll see you in August!

| The past two weeks have been absolutely amazing.
Last week was the Stotesbury Regatta in Philadelphia, so we left school at 8:30 am on Thursday, and stayed until late late late Saturday night. All sorts of amazing things happened, including our men's varsity 8 winning the whole regatta and consequently being invited to row in the Henley Regatta on the Thames river in London. Basically, I got to spend 3 fantastic nights eating, sleeping, and rowing with some of my favourite people on the entire planet.
and then
This week was the Scholastic Rowing Association's National Regatta in Saratoga Springs, New York. So, we again left school on Thusday (at 6:00 am), and didn't get home until very early Sunday morning (I think, 2:00 am or so?). Again, I got to sleep, row, eat, and live with my amazing boatmates, and (despite the fact that the course smelled like cow poop and was disgusting, sloshy mud the entire time) had just a wonderful time. Plus, when our bus broke down on the way back and all 75 of us and our luggage had to cram on a bus with 55 seats, I got to talk to Jim (the guy's varsity coach), whom I really like.
So, here are some pictures. (Taken by Mariah. I'm too lazy to take them.) Y'alls can see now what crew is like.
This is our boat, as taken from the vantage point of our coxswain, Bronwyn.
Hehe. This is me, lounging around on the dock.
These are all the ports, plus katie. (Mariah's taking the picture). And no, we don't do this all of practice. We were waiting for Danielle and Kat to show up, after their carpool driver never showed.
Me, beneath a boat on our trailer in New York
This is pretty much what we did the entire time at the hotel.
We also had markers that let us draw in the hotel windows and mirrors.
Yeah, we pretty much do this all the time, too. But not really. Only sometimes.
Alexis, being entirely cool with a spare rigger for the guy's varsity boat.
Katie makes the most awesome faces of ever. I forget what the subject of this one was, but it was between races at Stotesbury.
Alexis and Danielle decided I had a talent for freestyle rapping as a pirate, and gave me the rapper name "Freskah"
Danielle's checking my vital signs after Blake scared me and I fell down. Such love amongst the team.
Katie threw a tampon at me and Danielle, after we fell down the stairs.

I love these people so much.

| Wow. So. I just got into the YFU summer program, which means I'm spending 6 weeks in Japan this summer for free. Hmmm. I don't think it's really sunk in yet. I'm only a little sad because it means I won't be able to do summer crew, and that I'll lose all my muscle mass. But, whatevs. Or something along those lines.

| Yay!
I'm rowing in the Varsity Women's 8 race tomorrow, as a sophomore novice! It doesn't get much better than that.
Have I mentioned that crew is the coolest and best possible thing in
the entire world, and that it ENRICHES my life and STEALS my free time?
I love it so much....!

| I love crew. (Rowing, for those who don't know. Not that weird theatre thing) The Occoquan River is so beautiful.
And I am so happy.
